West Indies-A were put under pressure from Bangladesh, following memorable bowling from Kemar Roach and Ryan Austin in their three-day, tour match yesterday. West Indies-A, replying to Bangladesh's first innings total of 195, slumped to 82 for four at the close on the opening day at Kensington Oval.

A-Team captain Sewnarine Chattergoon, batting at three, was not out on 38 and wicketkeeper/batsman Devon Thomas was not out on four when stumps were drawn. The A-Team lost opener Adrian Barath for four and Lendl Simmons for seven, as new Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza removed the two of them, and finished the day with two wickets for 14 runs from six overs. Fast bowler Roach had collected five wickets for 62 runs off 17 overs, and off-spinner Austin had captured five for 71 off 22.5 overs, as Bangladesh were bowled out about 35 minutes after tea. Mohammad Ashraful top-scored for Bangladesh with 50, batting at number five, after the visitors won the toss and chose to bat. But the A-Team then found themselves in early trouble, when they lost opener Kieran Powell caught at forward square-leg off Shahadat Hossain for five.

Barath fended a short ball from Mortaza to gully, and Simmons was adjudged lbw to the same bowler to leave the A-Team 32 for three. Andre Creary, a Young West Indies batsman from Jamaica, who is yet to play a first-class match, joined Chattergoon, and they navigated the A-Team past 50 and added 47 for the fourth wicket before he was caught at leg-slip off left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan just before the close. Earlier, hometown boys Roach and Austin ensured there was little substance and stability in the Bangladesh batting, after a steady opening stand of 35 from Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes.

Roach had Tamim caught behind for 23, and bowled Imrul for 21, as Bangladesh reached 66 for two at lunch. After lunch, Roach and Austin made inroads into the visitors' batting, and left them rocking on 165 for five at tea. Bangladesh face West Indies in two Tests, three One-day Internationals, and one Twenty20 International on their five-week tour of the Caribbean.
