The De­r­ick Mosca trained, Ja­maican-bred fil­ly, Roy­al Ba­by is my nap se­lec­tion to win to­day's fea­ture event, the $100,000 Nurs­ery Stakes, which will be run over 1,200 me­tres at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. In to­day's ju­ve­nile show­piece, Roy­al Ba­by, who ran out a com­fort­able first-time win­ner in near record time, looks a cert to land the $60,000 first prize cheque from Defin­ing Mo­ment and Chief Crazy Horse.

Last time out over 1,000 me­tres, Roy­al Ba­by made all the run­ning and quick­ened clear in great style, to win by three lengths in the time of one minute flat. This was a shade out­side the track record set by sta­ble­mate Lu­ca's Gold's in 59.2 sec­onds. Sure­ly, the daugh­ter of Roy­al Min­is­ter/Go Ba­by Go will com­plete a quick dou­ble in the nine-horse Nurs­ery, which has five Ja­maica-bred hors­es en­tered.

The Baskaran Bas­sawh owned fil­ly, though trav­el­ling over 200 me­tres fur­ther, should see off his chal­lengers eas­i­ly. On the un­der­card, Hon­est Hero, run­ner-up to Black­stone Street in the 1,350-me­tre Re­pub­lic Bank On­line Di­a­mond Stakes on Der­by Day, should reg­is­ter his fourth suc­cess of the sea­son, at the main ex­pense of Just In Time and Slews­mart­strike.
