?A 19-year-old man is expected to appear in the Sangre Grande Magistrates' Court today, charged with the Christmas Eve murder of Dwight De Silva. The suspect, of Foster Road, Sangre Grande, was hospitalised after he was chopped during an incident in the San Grande District Hospital. He was charged with the capital offence on Saturday night on the advice from acting DPP Roger Gaspard.
De Silva, 30, of Gookool Lands, Valencia, died last week at Sangre Grande Hospital, from a stab wound to the neck. He was attacked around 4 am on December 24, while working at Big Bar nightclub in Sangre Grande. According to police, De Silva was stabbed after he spoke to a patron about bringing alcoholic beverages, purchased outside, into the club. Senior Supt Margaret Sampson-Brown and detectives Jones, Horrel and Leon, of the Sangre Grande CID, investigated the incident.
