Tidal Wave Aquatics dominate south swimming

Tidal Wave Aquat­ics emerged cham­pi­on of the first meet of the new swim­ming sea­son on Sun­day when the Tsuna­mi Swim Club host­ed the Pe­ter Awong Memo­r­i­al Swim Meet at the St. Michael's Pool in San Fer­nan­do. The Ma­coya based out­fit amassed 655 points to win the Cham­pi­on Club Chal­lenge Tro­phy, and nine of the 30 avail­able over­all age group awards in the com­pe­ti­tion.

Lead­ing the way for Tidal Wave was Syr­i­ah David, who won all sev­en of her events in the 11-12 fe­male age group earn­ing the max­i­mum 63 points, clock­ing per­son­al bests in all of her events. Eight and un­der fe­male, Vris­nelit Fau­re had a near per­fect record to win her age group for Tidal Wave. The bud­ding swim star won five out of her six events, with her on­ly non-gold medal be­ing bronze in the 100 free. Kael Yorke, Jeron O'Brien and Si­mone Maun­dy al­so won first place tro­phies for the club.

Christo­pher Reis was the on­ly oth­er swim­mer to win all his events on the day. The Stingray Swim Club mem­ber won the first placed tro­phy in the 15-17 age group. In the club stand­ings, Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence Sea Hawks placed sec­ond with 580 points, with Stingray third with 349 points. Meet host Tsuna­mi Swim Club, and Tor­pe­does Swim Club round­ed off the top five.

Swim­ming ac­tion con­tin­ues at the same venue on Sat­ur­day and Sun­day,from 9 am, as Stingray Swim Club hosts its An­nu­al Oc­to­ber Clas­sic.
