Ken Ali was quoted in the Guardian of November 12 as say-ing, "What would people say when Christians were affected further by restructuring at the company..." This statement shows Ali's ignorance of the Muslim community's reaction to the firing of Fazeer Mohammed from CNMG. Firstly, Ali should note that the previous PNM administration was pro-Christian and that community benefited greatly from the then government through grants etc.
Now that the People's Partnership is in power, it seems that it is the Hindu community's turn to reap the rewards of governance. (How many Eid programmes were attended by members of the PP Government and how much money was allocated to Muslims?) So when would the Muslim community benefit? Under the PNM and now the PP Governments, Muslims seems to be getting the shorter end of the stick and when they voice their opinions they face the possibility of being labelled as terrorists and fanatics. Can anyone please tell me when would this injustice stop?
