PM still stands behind Warner

Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar con­tin­ues to sup­port Works and Trans­port Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er, who was sus­pend­ed by a FI­FA Ethics Com­mit­tee pend­ing al­le­ga­tions of bribery.The PM yes­ter­day re­it­er­at­ed a state­ment she made on Sat­ur­day in which she said she stood in sup­port of Warn­er pend­ing the out­come of FI­FA's in­ves­ti­ga­tions."I have not changed my mind. I will not pre­judge the mat­ter un­less there is ev­i­dence to the con­trary. I will stand by him in sup­port."Warn­er, FI­FA vice-pres­i­dent and ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee mem­ber Mo­hamed bin Ham­mam and two Caribbean Foot­ball Union of­fi­cials, Deb­bie Minguell and Ja­son Sylvester, were is­sued with pro­vi­sion­al sus­pen­sions by the world foot­ball body.The Ethics Com­mit­tee said there was suf­fi­cient ev­i­dence to fur­ther in­ves­ti­gate al­le­ga­tions that bin Ham­mam and Warn­er of­fered bribes to del­e­gates at a CFU meet­ing. The meet­ing was held at the Hy­att, Port-of-Spain, ear­li­er last month.The bribes were al­leged­ly to se­cure votes for bin Ham­mam in his bid to un­seat FI­FA pres­i­dent Sepp Blat­ter.
