Authorities have detained ten individuals for various offences, with significant quantities of firearms, ammunition, and drugs confiscated during State of Emergency (SoE) operations held nationwide.
A release from the T&T Police Service yesterday said in the Western Division, co-ordinated exercises in Maraval occurred between 6 pm on Thursday and 1 am yesterday.
Task Force officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) executed searches, including one at a bar on Morne Coco Road, leading to the seizure of cannabis. Subsequent searches near the WASA Water Treatment Facility uncovered a black plastic bag containing 12 rounds of ammunition.
In the Arima district, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted in Samaroo Village on Thursday between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm. The search of a residence led to the discovery of a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition. Two minors, aged 16 and 17, who were present during the search, were arrested.
In the Eastern Division, in the Valencia district, operations between 12 pm and 4 pm on Thursday resulted in the arrest of three individuals on outstanding warrants.
In the Sangre Grande and Manzanilla Districts, Task Force and CID officers searched the homes of five suspects, leading to the seizure of cannabis and the arrest of one suspect.
In Rio Claro, officers detained four individuals for various offences, including possession of cannabis for trafficking, possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine, and larceny from a dwelling house.
Investigations are ongoing in all the aforementioned cases.
