Au­thor­i­ties have de­tained ten in­di­vid­u­als for var­i­ous of­fences, with sig­nif­i­cant quan­ti­ties of firearms, am­mu­ni­tion, and drugs con­fis­cat­ed dur­ing State of Emer­gency (SoE) op­er­a­tions held na­tion­wide.

A re­lease from the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice yes­ter­day said in the West­ern Di­vi­sion, co-or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cis­es in Mar­aval oc­curred be­tween 6 pm on Thurs­day and 1 am yes­ter­day.

Task Force of­fi­cers and de­tec­tives from the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) ex­e­cut­ed search­es, in­clud­ing one at a bar on Morne Co­co Road, lead­ing to the seizure of cannabis. Sub­se­quent search­es near the WASA Wa­ter Treat­ment Fa­cil­i­ty un­cov­ered a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 12 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

In the Ari­ma dis­trict, an in­tel­li­gence-dri­ven op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed in Sama­roo Vil­lage on Thurs­day be­tween 11.30 am and 2.30 pm. The search of a res­i­dence led to the dis­cov­ery of a Glock pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 13 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. Two mi­nors, aged 16 and 17, who were present dur­ing the search, were ar­rest­ed.

In the East­ern Di­vi­sion, in the Va­len­cia dis­trict, op­er­a­tions be­tween 12 pm and 4 pm on Thurs­day re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of three in­di­vid­u­als on out­stand­ing war­rants.

In the San­gre Grande and Man­zanil­la Dis­tricts, Task Force and CID of­fi­cers searched the homes of five sus­pects, lead­ing to the seizure of cannabis and the ar­rest of one sus­pect.

In Rio Claro, of­fi­cers de­tained four in­di­vid­u­als for var­i­ous of­fences, in­clud­ing pos­ses­sion of cannabis for traf­fick­ing, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of co­caine, and lar­ce­ny from a dwelling house.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in all the afore­men­tioned cas­es.
