Two men are facing charges of Larceny Servant and House Breaking and Larceny. The men were arrested in the Central Division in separate incidents on Friday, the Police Service has confirmed.
In the first incident, around 8 pm on September 22nd, the victim (of Forest Park, Claxton Bay) secured his home and went away. However, on his return, he discovered his home ransacked and a quantity of electronic items missing.
A report was subsequently made to the Couva Police Station.
When the officers arrived at the victim's home, they heard noises coming from inside the house. As the officers drew closer to the sound, two men were seen jumping out of a window and running away. The officers gave chase and with the assistance of villagers, one of the suspects was detained.
A 32-year-old man (said to be from Curepe and Gasparillo) was arrested and taken to the station for processing.
In the other incident which took place earlier in the day, a business owner was conducting inventory at his hardware—located at Southern Main Road, Cunupia—when he discovered several stock items were missing, which were valued at $18,158.
Officers of the Cunupia Police Station were contacted and visited the scene.
Their investigations led to the arrest of a 28-year-old employee of Dyette Street, Cunupia.
A search warrant was executed at the employee’s home and all the items reported missing were recovered.
The man is expected to be charged with Larceny Servant.
