Min­is­ter of Health Ter­rance Deyals­ingh is thank­ing the pub­lic for their ini­tial re­sponse to the COVID-19 and In­fluen­za vac­ci­na­tion dri­ve that be­gan on Jan­u­ary 6.

In a re­lease yes­ter­day, the min­istry said over 2,000 vac­cines were ad­min­is­tered across all lo­ca­tions in the four re­gion­al health au­thor­i­ties in Trinidad.

Dur­ing the launch of the vac­ci­na­tion dri­ve at the Trinci­ty Mall Atri­um last Fri­day, Min­is­ter Deyals­ingh urged the pub­lic to get vac­ci­nat­ed giv­en the in­flux of vis­i­tors ex­pect­ed for the up­com­ing Car­ni­val sea­son.

Deyals­ingh al­so en­cour­aged the el­der­ly and im­muno­com­pro­mised to get vac­ci­nat­ed or boost­ed, as vac­cines can pro­vide ad­di­tion­al pro­tec­tion against se­ri­ous ill­ness caused by ei­ther COVID-19 or the In­fluen­za virus.

The vac­ci­na­tion dri­ve seeks to reach and en­cour­age per­sons who have nev­er re­ceived a pri­ma­ry dose of the COVID-19 vac­cine to get vac­ci­nat­ed and per­sons who have re­ceived the COVID-19 vac­cine to get a boost­er dose. Per­sons are al­so en­cour­aged to get their In­fluen­za vac­cine at the near­est mass vac­ci­na­tion site or at any health cen­tre across the coun­try.

The vac­ci­na­tion dri­ve con­tin­ues every Fri­day and Sat­ur­day at var­i­ous se­lect­ed lo­ca­tions un­til Feb­ru­ary 4, 2023. Cit­i­zens can al­so get shots at their var­i­ous re­gion­al health cen­tres.
