Five men appeared before the Arima Magistrates’ Court earlier this week charged with several offences including robbery with aggravation, house breaking and grievous sexual assault following various reports in the Arima area.
A statement from the Police Service reports that the men were arrested following investigations by officers attached to the Arima Police Station Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The TTPS confirms that JABARI PAUL of St Paul Street, East Dry River, along with a 17-year-old boy of Lodge Place, East Dry River and of Ward Lane, El Soccorro, appeared on Monday October 18th before Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes, charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of firearm and ammunition. The two accused were denied bail and the matter postponed to November 15th, 2021.
In a second matter, DARION HOLDER, 22, of Race Course Road, Carapo, appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw at the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Monday October 18th and pleaded not guilty. HOLDER was granted $80,000 bail with surety and his matter was adjourned to November 16th.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man of Longden Street, Arima, also appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw on Monday, charged with grievous sexual assault. The man was granted $150,000 bail with a surety and he is scheduled to reappear before the court on November 16th.
And in another matter, YUDHISTIR SHEOPERSAD, 20, of Lovers Lane, Wallerfield, Arima, was expected to appear before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw, today, to answer the charge of house breaking with intent.
