Triple murder—
Rancho Quemado
Police were on the scene of the fatal triple shooting in Rancho Quemado late yesterday where three people were shot dead.

Investigators were trying to verify the victims’ identities and were taking statements in an effort to determine what happened.

Two armed men opened fire on two La Horquetta men killing them on the spot and injuring two others, including a Venezuelan national.

The shooters ran away from the scene towards the highway before escaping in a waiting vehicle.
Murder—Embacadere
Residents of Embacadere believe they know who murdered their neighbour Marlon “Triple” La Guerre yesterday morning. However, investigators said information from witnesses has been slow in coming. When Guardian Media visited the housing development in San Fernando, the suspected killer’s name was being mentioned, but the residents would not say why La Guerre was shot dead.
A report stated that around 8 am, La Guerre’s son, Isaiah Mason, 19, was standing about 50 feet away from their home when he heard the gunshots. He ran home and saw La Guerre, 49, bleeding in the porch. La Guerre was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died.
ASP Andrew John led Southern Division Task Force, Crime Scene Unit, San Fernando CID to the scene along Circle Drive Extension. Officers searched the perimeter for the killer but were unsuccessful. Sgt Randy Ramjag and detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three also responded and interviewed residents.
Investigators were told that a masked gunman dressed in dark-coloured clothes emerged from a track between Circle Drive and the seafront in Embacadere. He opened fire on the La Guerre, even killing his mastiff.
A witness said La Guerre had just returned home from taking his children to school. She said she was working in the area and heard the shots. By the time she and others reached the area, the killer was gone. However, she believed the person was a stranger.
While a clear motive has not been determined, investigators said he has been held for drugs and robbery offences in the past. Therefore, they will be looking into his recent activities.
Schoolgirl stabbed
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed yesterday afternoon shortly after she left the compound of Providence Girls’ College. Police said at about 3 pm the teenager was standing at the corner of Belle Eau Road and Belmont Circular Road when she was attacked by two female students from another school. She was stabbed three times with a compass, an instrument from a geometry set. The schoolgirl was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she is warded in serious but stable condition.
Up until late last night police were at the scene of a stabbing incident on Robinson Lane in Laventille but officers were unable to give information on the incident up until press time.
Yesterday’s killings follows the murders of seven people on Sunday, including that of a 61-year-old grandmother and a US citizen.
Up to last night, the murder count stood at 67.
