An Oropune, Piarco man who was released from jail last week was shot dead yesterday morning and his body was dumped in the community. Police said a bag containing eight Molotov cocktails and two 9 mm spent shell casings were found next to his body.
Police said the bullet-riddled corpse of Samuel “Cornflakes” John was discovered yesterday at Oropune Circular, which is close to where he lived.
At 6.30 am, police were contacted and told that a man could be found lying on the northern side of Building 5A.
Following checks, officers discovered John, who was shot multiple times to the head and face. However, police believe John was killed elsewhere and his body dumped in Oropune. He was identified by residents who said he lived nearby.
Officers are working on the theory that John had allegedly fallen out with a member of a well-known gang prior to his release from prison last week, and had been on his way to carry out an attack at the suspect’s family home in Arouca when he was allegedly intercepted by members of the gang.
