FIFA extends normalisation committee to 2024

World gov­ern­ing body for foot­ball, FI­FA, has ex­tend­ed the man­date of the T&T Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (TTFA) nor­mal­i­sa­tion com­mit­tee un­til March 31, 2024.

The de­ci­sion tak­en on Feb­ru­ary 27 "due to the chal­lenges that the TTFA con­tin­ues to face and to en­sure that the man­date of the nor­mal­i­sa­tion com­mit­tee (i.e. re­vi­sion and amend­ment of the statutes and or­gan­i­sa­tion and con­duc­tion of elec­tions of a new TTFA Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee for a four-year man­date) is car­ried out and ful­filled in strict com­pli­ance with the Bu­reau’s de­ci­sion."

The re­lease fur­ther stat­ed, "The Bu­reau took note that, due to the high amount of debts ac­cu­mu­lat­ed by pre­vi­ous TTFA ad­min­is­tra­tions and giv­en the num­ber of un­se­cured cred­i­tors, on 8 No­vem­ber 2021, the nor­mal­i­sa­tion com­mit­tee de­cid­ed to pro­ceed on the ba­sis of the Bank­rupt­cy and In­sol­ven­cy Act of Trinidad and To­ba­go and make a pro­pos­al to the var­i­ous cred­i­tors to set­tle out­stand­ing le­git­i­mate cred­i­tor bal­ances (the “BIA process”)."
