The protest march by a confederation of trade unions on Friday 12 August 2022, is expected to end at the Eric Williams Finance Complex on Independence Square, which houses the Central Bank (in the tower facing Wrightson Road), and the Ministry of Finance (which is closer to Independence Square).
The three labour unions leading the march on Friday are the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC), Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM), and Federation of Independent Trade Unions (FITUN).
At a media conference on Tuesday, JTUM president Ancel Roget confirmed that the federations will be protesting against the Government’s continued four per cent offer to public sector workers, as well as to show solidarity with Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) workers, with the company scheduled to undergo restructuring.
