Brian Mac Farlane’s Christmas concert series, Christmas Joy with a Whisper of Hope begins at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, Sunday, December 10, with the charity Gala show.
The much anticipated Christmas concert is in its sixth year.
The magic returned in 2022 following the hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the media launch last Thursday at the Hilton Trinidad Hotel Ballroom, Mr. Mac Farlane told the audience how he came up with the theme A Whisper of Hope.
“It was quite easy to look around at the entire world and this country and you realise without hope there is nothing. Without hope, you can just wither away. So what keeps us alive without even realising it, is the word hope. One of the definitions I was looking for hope is grounded in the belief, that something good will happen,” he explained.
The acclaimed masman and event producer said that staging Christmas Joy always brings hope and joy to the audience who comes to see the dedication and hard work done, by the choir, star cast, production, and wardrobe team.
Mac Farlane outlined that over the years, he has reached out to various regimes to expand the arts and culture community.
“They keep talking about diversification and little do they understand that our culture is one of the roads to take for diversification. When you look at Cirque du Soleil, a multi-billion-dollar US company that started with a team of street dancers … we could be doing that through our art and culture,” he remarked. Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company and the largest contemporary circus producer in the world.
The concert series continues from December 14 to 16, with the grand finale on December 17 and tickets are priced at $400, $500, and $600.
Tickets are available at the Queen’s Hall Box Office.
Mac Farlane’s production team includes drama director Dr Helmer Hilwig, musical director Dr Charles Brunner, choir director Michael Hudlin, choir BMacnificent Voices, and hand-picked Trinidad and Tobago, renowned soloists.
