Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the shoot­ing death of 34-year-old Akeem Greene, whose body was dis­cov­ered on the road­side on Thurs­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors say around 10:15 pm, they re­ceived re­ports that a man was ly­ing dead at the cor­ner of Ethel Street and By­ron Street.

Of­fi­cers ar­rived at the scene five min­utes lat­er and found Greene’s body on the west­ern side of the road­way. He was wear­ing a black jer­sey, blue trousers, black short pants, and one black slip­per.

His body bore gun­shot wounds.

Po­lice said Greene and an­oth­er man were dri­ving near Ethel Street. An un­known man re­port­ed­ly ap­proached Greene and be­gan fir­ing.

Po­lice re­trieved a spent 9-mil­lime­tre shell and a live 9-mil­lime­tre round—both marked "Luger". They al­so ob­tained fin­ger­print im­pres­sions from the shat­tered car door glass.
