A 34-year-old La Brea man charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm was granted $10,000 bail when he appeared virtually before Magistrate Aden Stroude at the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court on January, 3rd.
As part of the bail condition, the accused was ordered to have no contact with the woman and to keep 100 feet away from her. He is scheduled to reappear in court on January 31st.
According to police reports, on July 16th, 2021 a woman was at her home, when a man whom she knows allegedly kicked her, and cuffed her several times in her face, shoulders and stomach, and as a result she sustained injuries. A report was made to police and an investigation was launched by the Gender Based Violence Unit South Western Division.
The accused was arrested and charged by PC Ramdath of the Gender Based Violent Unit on December 31st 2021. The investigation was spearheaded by W/Supt Claire Guy Alleyne, ASP Francis and Insp. Bridglal of the Gender Based Violence Unit.
