A 34-year-old La Brea man charged with as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing ac­tu­al bod­i­ly harm was grant­ed $10,000 bail when he ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mag­is­trate Aden Stroude at the Point Fortin Mag­is­trates’ Court on Jan­u­ary, 3rd.

As part of the bail con­di­tion, the ac­cused was or­dered to have no con­tact with the woman and to keep 100 feet away from her. He is sched­uled to reap­pear in court on Jan­u­ary 31st.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on Ju­ly 16th, 2021 a woman was at her home, when a man whom she knows al­leged­ly kicked her, and cuffed her sev­er­al times in her face, shoul­ders and stom­ach, and as a re­sult she sus­tained in­juries. A re­port was made to po­lice and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion was launched by the Gen­der Based Vi­o­lence Unit South West­ern Di­vi­sion.

The ac­cused was ar­rest­ed and charged by PC Ram­dath of the Gen­der Based Vi­o­lent Unit on De­cem­ber 31st 2021. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was spear­head­ed by W/Supt Claire Guy Al­leyne, ASP Fran­cis and In­sp. Bridglal of the Gen­der Based Vi­o­lence Unit.
