Minutes after 34-year-old Trevor Williams was gunned down outside the Besson Street Police Station, an east Port of Spain man, who heard a separate volley of gunfire, was struck by a stray bullet when he peeped outside to see what was happening.
Police said the 53-year-old man was in the bedroom of his Clifton Towers home at 4:10 pm on Saturday when he heard gunshots.
As he looked out of his window, he felt a burning sensation on his right palm near his little finger and realised he was bleeding.
The man went to the hospital, where staff treated him.
At the same time, officers from the Port of Spain Task Force and the Inter Agency Task Force responded to Williams' murder and visited Foster Quevidore Road, John John, Laventille, where they found an assault rifle with 15 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
Police arrested a 26-year-old east Port of Spain man in connection with the gun.
Police have not confirmed whether this discovery is related to Williams' murder.
