One man has been confirmed dead and two other people escaped serious injuries after a car crashed into a wall and split in two along the Manzanilla Stretch on Saturday evening.
Details were sketchy up to press time and police officers said they were unable to give the identities of the victim and two other occupants who were with him.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred along Manzanilla Road just before 4 pm when a Lancer motor vehicle slammed into a wall.
“The driver died and there was a young girl in the front who escaped unscathed. The young boy in the back of the Lancer was seriously injured. It looked like he had a broken leg,” a witness told Guardian Media.
An ambulance was called but it took some time before paramedics arrived.
“Thankfully the boy in the back was alive but he was drifting in and out of consciousness. The girl was just studying about what happened to her friends,” the witness said.
A medical doctor who was passing by, stopped when he saw the accident and rendered medical aid to the survivors.
A police officer from the Manzanilla station said they are still trying to determine the cause of the accident and investigations are continuing.
