Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a Ste Madeleine man, shooting him in the chest on New Year’s Day.
Police said around 6:15 pm, the victim Christopher Kevin Charles, 36, of Manahambre Road, Ste Madeleine, was liming alongside Corquette Street, Ste Madeleine when a gold Nissan Almera proceeding west along Manahambre Road, turned in a southerly direction onto Corquette Stree. A man sitting in the left rear passenger seat pointed a gun at Charles and fired one shot at close range.
It struck him on the right side of his chest. Charles was rushed to hospital where he is now resting in a stable condition. A team of officers led by W/Cpl Sutherland from the Ste Madeleine CID visited the scene and interviewed several persons. Investigations are continuing.
