The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion has said that the new aca­d­e­m­ic year has opened suc­cess­ful­ly with mi­nor in­ci­dents at two schools.

"With over sev­en hun­dred (700) schools in Trinidad and To­ba­go Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion An­tho­ny Gar­cia praised the hard work of the Ed­u­ca­tion Fa­cil­i­ties, Pro­cure­ment and Plan­ning Di­vi­sion (EF­P­PD) of the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion along with The Na­tion­al Main­te­nance Train­ing and Se­cu­ri­ty Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (MTS) for their com­mit­ment to the over two hun­dred and fifty thou­sand chil­dren who ac­cess ed­u­ca­tion in this coun­try," a state­ment by the min­istry said.

The state­ment said that Min­is­ter Gar­cia vis­it­ed the Ari­ma Hin­du School this morn­ing to see first-hand the work that went in­to the prepa­ra­tion of the new space that the school will be oc­cu­py­ing since be­ing de­cant­ed from the Tem­ple Street struc­ture.

It added that Min­is­ter of State in the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion Dr Lovell Fran­cis was al­so on the ground vis­it­ing Tran­quil­i­ty Gov­ern­ment Pri­ma­ry School and East Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary School en­sur­ing that the works to be com­plet­ed were ef­fec­tive­ly done and the schools were op­er­at­ing smooth­ly.

The Min­istry says the St. Fin­bar’s RC School was un­able to open its doors to staff and stu­dents to­day as a wa­ter prob­lem hin­dered the school’s san­i­ta­tion and clean­ing.

It said the stu­dents of de­cant­ed Cara­pichaima An­gli­can School were al­so de­layed by the trans­porta­tion from the Pub­lic Trans­port Ser­vice Com­mis­sion (PTSC) be­ing un­able to take the stu­dents to the new lo­ca­tion to­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, St. Fin­bar’s RC School is be­ing mon­i­tored and the san­i­ta­tion ex­er­cise is un­der­way while for Cara­pichaima An­gli­can, the Min­istry is work­ing with the PTSC to pro­vide trans­port to stu­dents.

The Ed­u­ca­tion Min­istry says Min­is­ter Gar­cia al­so went on to com­mend and thank all stake­hold­ers in ed­u­ca­tion for their con­tin­ued com­mit­ment and ser­vice to the de­vel­op­ment of the fu­ture hu­man re­source of this coun­try.
