A Yellow Level Hazardous Seas Alert issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is in effect from now until 4pm January 2.
The areas expected to be affected are the northern and northeastern exposed coastlines of Trinidad and Tobago.
The advisory explains:
"Northeasterly long period swells in combination with spring tides are expected to continue to agitate seas with exacerbated conditions especially at high tides. Larger than normal breakers are expected in the surf zone."
The Met Service is urging all marine interests to “monitor nearshore, coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along identified areas”, as well as to “limit nearshore marine activities”.
