Relatives of 49-year-old Anthony Sahadeo James believe he was murdered by someone he knew. James’ lifeless body was discovered by his 81-year-old mother at his Ramnarine Trace, San Francique, home on Monday.

Shortly before 4 pm, his mother, who lives next door, went to check on him because she had not seen him for the day. She found him dead on his bed. Relatives believe he was attacked while asleep and beaten to death. James worked as a fabricator and was the father of two and grandfather of four.  He lived alone. The family rejected robbery as a motive since the house was not ransacked, his jewelry and phone were intact, and nothing appeared to be missing.

James’ mother, Ramragee Beharry, broke down in tears as she recalled how she found her son. “I see he lie down on the bed. So I say, boy what happen, what happen? I see his head bleeding, ,and he is not answering, so I say, oh God my son pass away,” she lamented.

James’ son Antonio, 23, said he spent the weekend with his father and left on Sunday evening. When he called his father shortly before 9 o’clock that night, he was in a bar.

Antonio said his father was in a turbulent on-and-off relationship for a year. He said that despite breaking off the relationship, James would rekindle it and would say he was in love.

Earlier this year, he said his father’s leg was broken, he had received several death threats, and last week he was attacked with a pigfoot. James, his son said, never made any reports to the police.

James’s daughter Alicia, 21, said her father was a good man. “He was the best dad I could ever ask for. He was always there for his children and grandchildren. He tried his best with us.” She demanded justice. “We have to get justice. This can’t just happen so,” Alicia cried.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter,  Santa Cruz man was killed at a bar in the area around 4 pm yesterday. He was identified only as “Benji”. Police said he was shot dead near the Villa Cruz Sports Bar, Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz.
