The Vic­tor and Sal­ly Mout­tet Foun­da­tion, with sup­port from its con­tribut­ing part­ners Agos­ti­ni’s Lim­it­ed, Pres­tige Hold­ings Lim­it­ed and Vic­tor E. Mout­tet Lim­it­ed, has an­nounced they will be pro­vid­ing 400 lap­tops with three months free Wi-Fi to chil­dren for their on­line home school­ing.

The lap­tops will be made avail­able to the chil­dren of Agos­ti­ni’s and Pres­tige Hold­ings’ em­ploy­ees who are un­able to af­ford the de­vices and 100 of them will be made avail­able to the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion for wider dis­tri­b­u­tion to de­serv­ing fam­i­lies.

The use of elec­tron­ic de­vices has be­come crit­i­cal in the new term af­ter the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion was forced to shut down face-to-face teach­ing due to the on­go­ing COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

Speak­ing about the ini­tia­tive, chair­man of the foun­da­tion An­tho­ny Agos­ti­ni said “We recog­nise that COVID-19 has brought unique chal­lenges and we must all play our role to help sup­port how we re­spond to these changes. While our foun­da­tion is fund­ing the ma­jor­i­ty of the cost of these com­put­ers that the chil­dren of staff mem­bers will re­ceive, staff will al­so make a to­ken con­tri­bu­tion, join­ing the foun­da­tion in recog­ni­tion of its val­ue to their chil­dren’s ed­u­ca­tion.”

The Vic­tor and Sal­ly Mout­tet Foun­da­tion cur­rent­ly funds pro­grammes as­so­ci­at­ed with chil­dren with Dyslex­ia and has an Eye Glass­es Pro­gramme cov­er­ing over 100 pri­ma­ry schools that it has been rolling out across the coun­try. Eye tests and glass­es are pro­vid­ed to chil­dren at a frac­tion of the nor­mal cost in that ini­tia­tive.
