The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice says in a land­mark op­er­a­tion ear­li­er to­day, it suc­cess­ful­ly seized near­ly $32 mil­lion worth of high-grade mar­i­jua­na, mark­ing a sig­nif­i­cant vic­to­ry against drug traf­fick­ing net­works. 

Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Er­la Hare­wood-Christo­pher com­mend­ed the ded­i­cat­ed of­fi­cers whose ef­forts made this break­through pos­si­ble. 

"This op­er­a­tion, while ex­e­cut­ed with­in hours, is the cul­mi­na­tion of count­less hours of in­tel­li­gence gath­er­ing and metic­u­lous sur­veil­lance," stat­ed the Com­mis­sion­er. 

"Our of­fi­cers have dealt a sub­stan­tial blow to this drug traf­fick­ing net­work, and we re­main re­lent­less in our pur­suit of these crim­i­nals." 

In a state­ment on Fri­day, the TTPS said a se­ries of co­or­di­nat­ed in­tel­li­gence op­er­a­tions re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of sev­er­al as­so­ciates of a drug traf­fick­ing net­work based in South Trinidad and the seizure of large amounts of nar­cotics which con­sist­ed of high-grade mar­i­jua­na and co­caine. Ear­li­er this week the TTPS ar­rest­ed a key sus­pect and seized over $4.5 m worth of co­caine in­fused in hair prod­ucts. 

Re­cent in­tel­li­gence re­vealed plans by the drug net­work to re­lo­cate nar­cotics from a stash in Guapo. 

The TTPS’s rig­or­ous sur­veil­lance and in­tel­li­gence ef­forts pin­point­ed the stash in a se­clud­ed, forest­ed beach-type area along Vance Riv­er Road, Guapo. 

Of­fi­cers main­tained close ob­ser­va­tion and iden­ti­fied key net­work as­so­ciates as they at­tempt­ed to move the nar­cotics. 

With op­er­a­tional sup­port from South­ern Di­vi­sion Po­lice, of­fi­cers swift­ly con­verged on the lo­ca­tion and se­cured the area last night. 

The team ap­pre­hend­ed two pri­ma­ry as­so­ciates and con­fis­cat­ed the nar­cotics. 

The sus­pects, along with the seized drugs, were trans­port­ed to Mara­bel­la Po­lice Sta­tion.
