Police and army uniforms were found and seized by police officers during an exercise yesterday in Second Caledonia, Morvant.
Police said information led them to Cipriani Avenue and during a search of an empty lot of land they found one army camouflage uniform, one police tactical uniform and one bulletproof vest.
The police exercise took place between 3.15 pm and 7 pm in the North Eastern Division by members of the North Eastern Division Task Force assisted by members of the K-9 Unit.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Ramjohn, ASP Pariman and Insp Bharath. It was supervised by Sgt Martin, Cpl Daniel and Cpl Duncan.
Several search warrants for firearms and ammunition were executed in the Morvant and San Juan districts.
Also a search was conducted in a bushy area of the basketball court situated at Oudan Road, El Socorro where officers found and seized a silver-coloured pistol with the serial number and other markings filed off. No one was arrested for both findings, however, police officers are asking members of the public who may have more information on the people behind it can contact them anonymously through 555, 800 TIPS or 482 GARY.
