Po­lice of­fi­cers launched a mas­sive search yes­ter­day af­ter­noon look­ing for a wound­ed per­son who was re­port­ed­ly shot dur­ing a cross­fire be­tween two ri­val gangs.

Guardian Me­dia was told by po­lice sources that res­i­dents re­port­ed that there was shootout be­tween two ri­val gangs at Las­tique Street, East Dry Riv­er, Port-of-Spain, some time af­ter 4 pm.

Po­lice were told one man was shot and wound­ed and was be­lieved to have been tak­en and hid­den away by peo­ple in the com­mu­ni­ty.

Po­lice said when re­spond­ing of­fi­cers ar­rived on the scene gang mem­bers dis­persed and went in­to hid­ing.
