Police have arrested eight suspects, several of whom are priority offenders, during operations in the Central Division and Northern Division-North yesterday.
During a search at a mini-mart at Oropune Gardens, Piarco officers discovered 1386 grams of cannabis.
The officers arrested the owner of the establishment, a 64-year-old man in connection with the seizure.
Meanwhile, in the Central Division, officers searched a house in Claxton Bay where they seized 320 grams of cannabis and one man was arrested.
Officers also intercepted a heavily tinted brown Hyundai Elantra vehicle along the Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay, which was being driven by a
priority offender.
He was arrested after officers found six rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.
The suspect’s home was searched under the Emergency Powers Regulation, no additional illegal items were found. However, during the search at the premises, another priority offender was also detained under the 2024 SOE regulations.
During the operation another known priority offender from Crown Street,
Enterprise was targeted. Police searched his home and he was detained
under the 2024 SOE regulations.
Three individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants for various offences.
Following the arrests, officers also found 178 grams of cannabis under a galvanize sheeting on Freedom Street, Enterprise.
Investigations are ongoing.
