The Privy Coun­cil has or­dered Jack Warn­er to re­pay Kr­ish­na Lal­la the sum of TT$1,505,493 plus in­ter­est.

The judg­ment arose out of an ini­tial 2018 rul­ing of High Court Judge Frank Seep­er­sad.

Jus­tice Seep­er­sad had or­dered Warn­er, to pay the $1.5m to Lal­la, a UNC fi­nancier at the time, and who claimed the mon­ey giv­en to Warn­er was a loan in the lead up to the 2007 gen­er­al elec­tion cam­paign.

Warn­er has ar­gued that the mon­ey was giv­en as a gift.

The mat­ter was heard in the Privy Coun­cil on May 15 2023 by Lord Hodge, Lord Lloyd-Jones, Lord Kitchin, Lord Ham­blen, and the rul­ing hand­ed down to­day.
