Thir­ty-three-year-old Clint Bhag­wan­deen had an ar­gu­ment with a man short­ly be­fore he was gunned down at a bar in San Fer­nan­do on Sat­ur­day night. Bhag­wan­deen of Ol­era Heights, San Fer­nan­do, died at one of his reg­u­lar lim­ing spots, D Up Lo Lounge, Cof­fee Street, San Fer­nan­do. He would have cel­e­brat­ed his 34th birth­day in two weeks.

Po­lice were told that Bhag­wan­deen was lim­ing at the bar when he had an ar­gu­ment with a man who sub­se­quent­ly left, but threat­ened that he would re­turn to “shoot up the Cof­fee.” Bhag­wan­deen did not pay the threat much at­ten­tion and re­mained at the bar. Some­time lat­er around 9.40 pm, he was lim­ing at the out­side sit­ting area of the bar when he was shot sev­er­al times.

No one else was shot. The bar is lo­cat­ed very close to the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Of­fice on Cof­fee Street. Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed his Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion apart­ment build­ing at Ol­era Heights, but no one was there. Ten­ants said he lived alone. Po­lice said he was charged pre­vi­ous­ly for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion. Vis­it­ing the scene was a par­ty of of­fi­cers led by Snr Supt Wayne Mo­hammed, and in­clud­ed among oth­ers, In­sp Nanan, Sgt Williams and Cpl Ra­moutar. A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer or­dered the re­moval of the body and an au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be per­formed to­day at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in Port of Spain.
