Homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors sus­pect the mo­tive be­hind the mur­der of scrap iron deal­er De­shawn Mc­Clean was drug-re­lat­ed.

Mc­Clean was shot dead along Rig Road No 1, Clax­ton Bay, near his home on Sat­ur­day night. His death came af­ter telling his moth­er that was he was go­ing to meet some­one named “Blacks”.

A po­lice re­port stat­ed that around 7.30 pm, Mc Clean was at home with his 59-year-old moth­er and oth­er rel­a­tives.

Short­ly af­ter leav­ing home, rel­a­tives heard sev­er­al ex­plo­sions. His moth­er looked out­side and saw him ly­ing mo­tion­less on the road­way.

Po­lice re­spond­ed to a re­port of the shoot­ing, but when they ar­rived, Mc Clean was al­ready dead. Of­fi­cers searched the sur­round­ing ar­eas for sus­pects, but up to yes­ter­day, they did not de­tain any­one.

Fol­low­ing con­fir­ma­tion of death by a Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer, un­der­tak­ers took Mc Clean’s corpse to the mor­tu­ary at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for stor­age un­til a trans­fer to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre on Mon­day for an au­top­sy.

Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­trieved four 9 mm bul­let cas­ings, two 9 mm bul­lets and a pair of black rub­ber slip­pers.
