Af­ter spend­ing two days on the run, 40-year-old Ever­son Hazel­wood was re­cap­tured by po­lice in Ba­lan­dra.

Hazel­wood, who was charged with mur­der, was ar­rest­ed yes­ter­day af­ter­noon and tak­en to the Matu­ra Po­lice Sta­tion.

Hazel­wood, along with 33-year-old Joshua Gar­raway, es­caped from Foren­sic Ward 27 of the St Ann’s Psy­chi­atric Hos­pi­tal on Wednes­day morn­ing.

Gar­raway re­mained at large up to late yes­ter­day evening.

The two, who were sent to St Ann’s for psy­chi­atric eval­u­a­tion, were ob­served miss­ing dur­ing rou­tine se­cu­ri­ty checks ear­ly Wednes­day morn­ing.

Po­lice launched an im­me­di­ate man­hunt for the two.

A me­dia re­lease from the North West Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (NWRHA) on Wednes­day stat­ed an in­ves­ti­ga­tion was un­der­way to de­ter­mine how both men were able to es­cape.
