Amidst the ongoing State of Emergency (SoE), citizens who believe they have been wrongfully searched or detained by the T&T Police Service (TTPS) are being reminded of their right to file complaints.
According to information released by the TTPS, police officers are expected to act professionally and uphold their duties, even under the extraordinary circumstances of an SoE.
If someone suspects misconduct or abuse of power by a police officer, a report can be made of the matter via phone call or WhatsApp message to 736-TTPS, email at soe@ttps.gov.tt or in person at the Police Complaints Division located at MATCO Building, Henry Street, Port-of-Spain.
Once a complaint is received, the TTPS will acknowledge it, and an investigator will be assigned to handle the matter.
Complainants who do not receive an acknowledgment after filing are encouraged to follow up via the provided phone number.
For further inquiries or to address unresolved complaints, the TTPS assures the public of their commitment to maintaining accountability and professionalism during the SOE.
