That’s according to statistics provided by Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds MP, in a written response to Parliament.
According to the breakdown, the detection rate for murders is around 13%, with police solving 83 out of 663 murders for the period.
The detection rate for rape, incest and other sexual crimes fared only slightly better at 14%, with police solving 120 out of 843 cases.
At only 4% solved, larceny of motor vehicles appears to be the greatest challenge for the TTPS. Officers solved just 43 cases out of 1,090.
