An an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in the North­ern Di­vi­sion on Fri­day evening led to the ar­rest of a man and the seizure of a firearm. A firearm was al­so re­cov­ered in the South­ern Di­vi­sion and five per­sons were ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences.

Of­fi­cers of the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force were pro­ceed­ing along 2nd Street Ex­ten­sion, Up­per 6th Av­enue, in Mal­ick, Barataria in a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle, around 6:25 pm when they ob­served a man known to them. Up­on see­ing the ve­hi­cle, the man quick­ly turned around and start­ed walk­ing in the op­po­site di­rec­tion. The of­fi­cers ap­proached the sus­pect, iden­ti­fied them­selves, and

searched the man. They al­leged­ly found a pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing nine rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion in a black bag that was slung across the sus­pect’s up­per body. The man was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the San Juan Po­lice Sub Sta­tion.

An ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed in the South­ern Di­vi­sion be­tween the hours of 10 am and 8 pm yes­ter­day by of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force. It in­clud­ed PCs Loutan, Ramb­ha­jan, and Jug­mo­han. Sev­er­al known drug blocks were tar­get­ed re­sult­ing in the ar­rest of five per­sons. Three men were ar­rest­ed for Pos­ses­sion of Co­caine and were sub­se­quent­ly charged. A 21-year-old from La Ro­maine was ar­rest­ed for Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion and was tak­en to the Mara­bel­la Po­lice Sta­tion to be for­mal­ly charged for the of­fence, while a 69-year-old Princes Town man was ar­rest­ed and sub­se­quent­ly charged for Pos­ses­sion of a De­vice.

Around 7 pm PC Loutan, based on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, pro­ceed­ed to King’s Wharf, San Fer­nan­do. A search was con­duct­ed in a bushy area and a firearm fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing two rounds of am­mu­ni­tion was al­leged­ly found in a black bag.
