An anti-crime exercise conducted in the Northern Division on Friday evening led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of a firearm. A firearm was also recovered in the Southern Division and five persons were arrested for various offences.
Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force were proceeding along 2nd Street Extension, Upper 6th Avenue, in Malick, Barataria in a marked police vehicle, around 6:25 pm when they observed a man known to them. Upon seeing the vehicle, the man quickly turned around and started walking in the opposite direction. The officers approached the suspect, identified themselves, and
searched the man. They allegedly found a pistol fitted with a magazine containing nine rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition in a black bag that was slung across the suspect’s upper body. The man was arrested and taken to the San Juan Police Sub Station.

An exercise was conducted in the Southern Division between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm yesterday by officers of the Southern Division Task Force. It included PCs Loutan, Rambhajan, and Jugmohan. Several known drug blocks were targeted resulting in the arrest of five persons. Three men were arrested for Possession of Cocaine and were subsequently charged. A 21-year-old from La Romaine was arrested for Possession of Ammunition and was taken to the Marabella Police Station to be formally charged for the offence, while a 69-year-old Princes Town man was arrested and subsequently charged for Possession of a Device.
Around 7 pm PC Loutan, based on information received, proceeded to King’s Wharf, San Fernando. A search was conducted in a bushy area and a firearm fitted with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition was allegedly found in a black bag.
