The US Em­bassy has sus­pend­ed all in-per­son visa ap­point­ment.

The Em­bassy is­sued the fol­low­ing state­ment this ef­fect Sun­day morn­ing.

“Ef­fec­tive March 16, 2020, the Unit­ed States Em­bassy Port of Spain is can­cel­ing rou­tine in-per­son im­mi­grant and non­im­mi­grant visa ap­point­ments. In­ter­view waiv­er cas­es, which do not re­quire phys­i­cal pres­ence, will still be processed.

We will re­sume rou­tine visa ser­vices as soon as pos­si­ble but are un­able to pro­vide a spe­cif­ic date at this time. The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa ap­pli­ca­tion in the coun­try where it was pur­chased with­in one year of the date of pay­ment.

On Sat­ur­day a state­ment pur­port­ed to be from the Cana­di­an gov­ern­ment can­celling all visas, proved to be wrong. The Em­bassy said it was post­ed on a web­site that mim­ics the Cana­di­an Em­bassy.
