Venezuelan women fined for illegal entry

Four Venezue­lan women who are al­leged to have en­tered the coun­try il­le­gal­ly, have been fined by a San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trate in con­nec­tion with the of­fence. Alexandy Vanes­sa Ro­driguez Marinez, Karelys Del Valle Cas­tro, Zuiaila Isamar Linero and Lissie Ele­na Sis­so De Romero, all of Venezuela, were charged with il­le­gal en­try when they ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Armi­na De­onar­i­nesingh, in the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court, on Wednes­day.

Romero was fined $1,000 or in de­fault, faces ten days’ sim­ple im­pris­on­ment, while the oth­er three were fined $2,000 or in de­fault face three months’ sim­ple im­pris­on­ment.

The ac­cused were ar­rest­ed dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise con­duct­ed be­tween 8 am and 10 am, on Tues­day 6th June, 2023, by of­fi­cers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice Im­mi­gra­tion In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit South of the CID/CRO.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to var­i­ous lo­ca­tions in the South­ern Di­vi­sion where the ac­cused were ar­rest­ed and sub­se­quent­ly charged.
