On the heels of Pres­i­dent Chris­tine Kan­ga­loo’s call for To­ba­go to get the au­ton­o­my it de­serves, po­lit­i­cal leader of the Pro­gres­sive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Pa­tri­ots (PDP), Wat­son Duke, em­pha­sised that the time has come for To­bag­o­ni­ans to make de­ci­sions re­gard­ing their po­lit­i­cal sta­tus, eco­nom­ic de­vel­op­ment, so­cial progress, and cul­tur­al ad­vance­ment.

Duke told Guardian Me­dia he sup­ports Pres­i­dent Kan­ga­loo’s re­cent state­ment on grant­i­ng au­ton­o­my to To­ba­go.

Pres­i­dent Kan­ga­loo, in a state­ment, dur­ing her vis­it last Wednes­day, high­light­ed the need for To­ba­go to have the free­dom to pur­sue its own path to­wards growth, fair­ness and hap­pi­ness.

Duke said he sees this as a de­ci­sive sig­nal from the high­est of­fice hold­er in the coun­try, in­di­cat­ing that pri­ori­tis­ing To­ba­go’s au­ton­o­my is cru­cial.
