Six hors­es have been de­clared to race in the fea­ture event, on In­de­pen­dence Day (Au­gust 31) in the In­de­pen­dence Cup which is sched­uled for the turf track over 1,800 me­tres at San­ta Rosa Park in Ari­ma.

Last year, Stroke of Luck gave cham­pi­on train­er John O'Brien yet an­oth­er In­de­pen­dence Cup win­ner and this year, he at­tacks the event with three hors­es. Dou­ble win­ner Crown Prince will lead the charge in the In­de­pen­dence Cup which is sched­uled for the turf track and he will have two sta­ble­mates Princess Aruna and the 2022 Der­by win­ner So­ca Har­mo­ny to en­sure an O'Brien sweep.

Mak­ing Head­lines, which has been sold out from the O'Brien barn, has been gal­lop­ing well in prepa­ra­tion for this event.

The oth­er two hors­es are the Lester Alex­is-trained pair of Cool Cat and Fin­ish­ing Touch.

Crown Prince, the four-year-old son of Jou­vert/Al­ways A Princess, will at­tempt to win this race two years straight for own­ers Raro­ma Sta­bles.
