Jaden Leacock’s seven-wicket haul blew away T&T in the penultimate round of the Regional Under-17 tournament at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, yesterday.
Barbados won the toss and elected to field first and their bowlers ran through T&T’s batting order.
The local team had half of its battsmen back in the pavilion with 34 runs on the board.
Isiah Gomez’s 18 was the highest of the innings for T&T while Tariq Mohammed made 15.
Leacock ended with seven wickets for eight runs as T&T was routed for just 78 runs in 28.2 overs.
Barbados then sped to victory, with opener and captain Nimar Bolden hitting an unbeaten 33 runs.
Although T&T’s bowlers got three early wickets which left the Bajans on 30 for three, an unbroken stand of 51 between Bolden and Kevin Wickham, who scored 32 not out, saw the visitors to victory safely.
Elsewhere, the Windwards fell 13 runs short against the Leeward Islands at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA) in Tarouba.
At Gilbert Park in California, it was also a low-scoring affair as Jamaica were bowled out for just 104 runs but still managed to dismiss Guyana for 99 and win by five runs.
The final round of matches on Saturday will see T&T take on the Windward Islands at the BLCA while the Leewards and Guyana square off in Couva. Barbados and Jamaica will play their match at Gilbert Park.
