ABU DHABI – In a match that saw several standout performances by West Indies players, Johnson Charles shined brightest with a crucial half century that led his Sharjah Warriorz to a four-wicket victory over the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders when the International League T20 (ILT20) continued in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.
Charles’ knock of 65 from 35 balls was his second straight half century in the tournament and helped the Warriorz successfully chase the Knight Riders’ total of 161 for eight, as they ended on 162 for six off 19 overs.
He launched six fours and four sixes during his innings and featured in an opening partnership of 66 with Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who made 39, and then 45 with Jason Roy for the third wicket.
Sunile Narine took 2-20, while Jason Holder bagged 2-22 for the Knight Riders.
Earlier, Kyle Mayers also struck a half century at the top of the order after the Knight Riders were sent in to bat.
Mayers hit 56 from 35 balls with six fours and two sixes, while Roston Chase scored 33 from 21 balls and Holder added 26 from 17 balls.
Player-of-the-Match Adam Zampa was the main destroyer for the Warriorz with 3-27 while Adam Milne took 3-33.
