Kale Dal­la Cos­ta's quest for the ti­tle in the Boys' Un­der-18 Di­vi­sion Sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion in the Trin­i­ty Cup In­ter­na­tion­al Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion (ITF) Ju­nior Tour­na­ment was end­ed by Brazil­ian Bernar­do Tedesco at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre, Or­ange Grove Road, Tacarigua, Wednes­day.

This was af­ter Tedesco de­feat­ed Dal­la Cos­ta, the first ju­nior men’s play­er to be seed­ed num­ber one for an ITF Ju­nior Tour­na­ment, and a semi­fi­nal­ist in the Sun­shine Snacks Tran­quil­i­ty Ten­nis Open, re­cent­ly 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 in their quar­ter­fi­nal and will next face Aidan Lam Meng Bart of the USA, who beat Achil­leas Markis of Cyprus 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in their quar­ter­fi­nal.

The oth­er semi­fi­nal will fea­ture, top-ranked Oliv­er-Moses Gasperin of Mex­i­co who de­feat­ed Cana­da's Marc-Edouard Lal­li­er 6-4, 6-3, and USA's Gadin Arun, a 6-1, 6-3 win­ner over his coun­try­man Shaun Fer­nan­do.

How­ev­er, in the Dou­bles quar­ter­fi­nals, Dal­la Cos­ta had bet­ter for­tune af­ter he teamed up with coun­try­man Zachary Byng to beat sec­ond-ranked Tedesco and Gi­an­lu­ca Galas­so of USA 6-1, 6-7(5),10-7 in their quar­ter­fi­nal and will meet the win­ners of last night's quar­ter­fi­nal be­tween Aidan Lam Meng Bart of USA and his broth­er An­dre-Lam Jun Bart of Hong Kong and USA's Shaun Fer­nan­do and Yared Al­fred of the US Vir­gin Is­lands.

On Tues­day night, Byng and Dal­la Cos­ta beat Paulo Gon­za­lez of Colom­bia and Great Britain's Levi Tay­lor 6-3, 5-7, 12-10 in the round-of-16 while Bar­ba­di­an broth­ers Lu­ca Davis and Tyler Davis stopped lo­cals Con­nor Car­ring­ton and Jay­den Mitchell 6-0, 6-2; Al­fred and Fer­nan­do oust­ed St Lu­cian Al­hil Cyril and lo­cal play­er Ni­rav Dougdeen 6-0, 6-1 while Colter Amey of the USA and Lal­li­er dumped an­oth­er lo­cal duo, Javed Dowlat and Jo­van Garib­ana 6-0, 6-1.

Al­so yes­ter­day, T&T's Madi­son Khan and Shiloh Walk­er were swept aside by Cana­di­ans Is­abel­la Bawa and An­vi­ka Saraswathi 3-6, 2-6 in their quar­ter­fi­nal in the Girls' U-18 Dou­bles, while on Tues­day night, T&T’s Em-Myr­i­am Camp­bell-Smith and Es­te­fa­nia Vi­vas of Colom­bia were beat­en by El­ly-Rose Hude­bine of France and Char­lotte Tait of Aus­tralia 2-6, 3-6 in the round-of-16.

Ear­li­er in the day, Camp­bell-Smith, ranked sixth was beat­en in her tour­na­ment open­er 6-0, 6-2 by Cana­da’s Alyssa Bel­tei af­ter be­ing hand­ed an open­ing round bye on Mon­day.
