Nigel Hit­lal had a sol­id match all round to lead Hit List to its third straight win from as many match­es when they beat D’Crush­ers to top Group B of the Har­vard Sports Club April Fest Wind­ball (8 overs) Crick­et Tour­na­ment on Sat­ur­day last.

D’Crush­ers had first turn at the crease and were re­strict­ed to 26 runs all out in their al­lot­ted eight overs at the crease, with Surindra Bun­see hit­ting a top score of six runs, while Ker­win Pierre picked up two wick­ets for five runs from two overs, and Per­ry Ja­gan and Hit­lal one wick­et for two runs each.

Hit­lal then led the Hit List run chase with nine runs as they reached their tar­get of 27 for the loss of six wick­ets in sev­en overs, while Mar­lon Bhim chipped in with five runs, de­spite Randie Be­dassie and Adesh Ram­sumair snatch­ing a wick­et each for D’Crush­ers for three runs.

With the win, Hit List topped Group B with a max­i­mum of nine points and was joined in the main draw knock­out by run­ner-up D’Crush­ers, who en­tered the match win­ners of the first two match­es as well, cov­er­ing Valdez Youths and Spoil­ers.

In Group A, Uni­ver­sal Flip­pers won by de­fault from D’Drinks Spots, as both teams end­ed with 2-1 records and six points each to ad­vance to the main draw knock­out, ahead of de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Not Jus Fun via su­pe­ri­or net run rates.

In Group C, Friends 4 Life de­feat­ed Trav­ellers by 5 wick­ets to snatch the sec­ond spot in the three-team pool and a main draw spot as well.

Bat­ting first, Trav­ellers post­ed a chal­leng­ing to­tal of 47 runs for the loss of eight wick­ets thanks to Shaquille Hing­wan with a top score of 13 and Jer­mi Man­swell with 10, while Sunil Boodram picked up two wick­ets for four runs, and Isa­iah Ja­gram one for four.

In re­ply, Friends 4 Life got to their tar­get of 48 for the loss of 5 wick­ets in 7.3 overs, led by man of the match Cas­sis Muham­mad, who scored 15 not out, and Juan Car­los Nar­ine, who scored nine.

The trio of de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Not Jus Fun, Valdez Youths and Trav­ellers will con­test the play­offs this Sat­ur­day to de­ter­mine the fi­nal two qual­i­fiers for the quar­ter­fi­nals, which will bowl off on May 23.
