Yet an­oth­er tal­ent­ed son of the soil is mak­ing waves in mu­sic cir­cles abroad. Signed to FAD Flori­da Di­men­sions In­cor­po­rat­ed, Pre­ity Boy Roshan is based in Mi­a­mi, Flori­da, how­ev­er, his roots are in Trinidad.

His first sin­gle was So­ca In The Sam­ba (with The Is­land Crew); his sec­ond was She Ketch Meh; and his third was Pyardey Kab­hi. At present, a col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween Pre­ity Boy Roshan and The Sug­ar Cake Girls from Guyana is be­ing pro­duced by the la­bel.

FAD Flori­da Di­men­sions In­cor­po­rat­ed is a US-based tal­ent agency and man­age­ment com­pa­ny, based in West Palm Beach Flori­da. It is pri­mar­i­ly in­volved in movie and film pro­duc­tion, as well as ex­ot­ic mu­sic and art forms. The out­fit has pro­duced videos for The Is­land Crew (based in Trinidad), fea­tur­ing Pe­ter Plum­mer (broth­er of Denise Plum­mer); Ra­jin Dhan­raj; Shane "The Whis­per­er" Ram; Pre­ity Boy Roshan and var­i­ous lo­cal Chut­ney artistes.

Via e-mail, com­pa­ny spokesman Dr Ahamad J Khan said that the tal­ent agency is ded­i­cat­ed to mak­ing Trinidad Chut­ney mu­sic make its break in­to the USA and has al­ready in­tro­duced Roshan for the Mi­a­mi car­ni­val, Wash­ing­ton car­ni­val, Toron­to Carib­ana and the Win­nipeg Car­ifes­ta.

He added that the songs have been well re­ceived and, in con­junc­tion with Rishi Gayadeen of Trinidad's T&TEC Gay­a­tones and Rik­ki Jai, at­tempts are be­ing made to build a foun­da­tion to launch the Chut­ney move­ment in­to the USA. Khan claims to al­so have an ex­cel­lent rap­port with the Ka­mal Ab­dool, Trinidad & To­ba­go Di­as­po­ra VP, as well as Andy An­so­la, pres­i­dent of the Mi­a­mi car­ni­val com­mit­tee.

Khan re­minds that while many peo­ple say this is a far fetched idea, the same was said for Reg­gae mu­sic, un­til Bob Mar­ley broke on­to the scene. He said: "We at FAD be­lieve that the USA mar­ket is hun­gry for some­thing new and through this we are pro­mot­ing Pre­ity Boy Roshan and the Chut­ney mu­sic in Trinidad." n See Page B15
