Homi­cide of­fi­cers are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the sec­ond mur­der in San­gre Grande with­in two days.

Po­lice said Dwight “Pat” Badal, 41, a Min­istry of Health em­ploy­ee, was gunned down on Thurs­day night.

Badal, of Fos­ter Road, San­gre Grande, worked at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Of­fi­cers said Badal was play­ing bas­ket­ball with friends at a near­by recre­ation ground, when he left and went to Ex­press House Mi­ni Mart to pur­chase a bot­tle of wa­ter. As he was about to en­ter the mi­ni-mart, a man dressed on­ly in his un­der­wear, with a jer­sey cov­er­ing his face, came out of a car and opened fire on him. Badal died on the spot.

Badal’s moth­er, Joanne Sylvester, said she lives three hous­es away from where her son was killed. She said when she heard he was shot, she ran to the scene to find him al­ready dead.

On Car­ni­val Tues­day night, na­tion­al youth box­er Prince Charles, 18, was stabbed to death by a man in San­gre Grande dur­ing Last Lap cel­e­bra­tions.

The 57-year-old sus­pect was ar­rest­ed.
