In cel­e­bra­tion of 100 years of Sorop­ti­mist In­ter­na­tion­al on Ju­ly 17, ladies of Sorop­ti­mist In­ter­na­tion­al New­town plant­ed a Dou­ble Cha­co­nia tree on the grounds of the Ma­ter­ni­ty Ward at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Ju­ly 17 was al­so Sorop­ti­mist Day of Ac­tion for the SI Fed­er­a­tion, Sorop­ti­mist In­ter­na­tion­al Great Britain and Ire­land (SIG­BI), which in­cludes T&T. The theme for SIG­BI's Day of Ac­tion 2021 was "Trans­form Our Fu­ture On The Earth". SI said that as an or­gan­i­sa­tion with spe­cial Gen­er­al Con­sul­ta­tive Sta­tus to the UN's Eco­nom­ic and So­cial Coun­cil, its man­date links to the UN and the fo­cus this year was on Goal 13 of the Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­men­tal Goals–Cli­mate Ac­tion.
