It will not be a hap­py start to the new year for sev­er­al bmo­bile pre-paid cus­tomers as the com­pa­ny has an­nounced that it will be in­creas­ing the price of two of its pop­u­lar plans.

Ef­fec­tive Jan­u­ary 1, the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions provider bmo­bile will be in­creas­ing the cost of its three-day and 30-day pre­paid plans.

A three-day $45 plan (VAT in­clu­sive) will now cost $55.13 while a 30 day $241.88 plan (VAT in­clu­sive) in­creased to $268.88.

A post­ing on the com­pa­ny’s web­site yes­ter­day ex­plained, “De­spite our best ef­forts, we con­tin­ue to be ad­verse­ly af­fect­ed by in­fla­tion and oth­er eco­nom­ic fac­tors, which con­tin­ue to sig­nif­i­cant­ly dri­ve up the cost of do­ing busi­ness. As a re­sult, we are forced to make changes to our pre­paid rates ef­fec­tive Jan­u­ary 1, 2023.”

The price of all oth­er pre­paid plans will re­main un­changed, bmo­bile said.

It added all of its pre­paid plans will con­tin­ue to in­clude 4G LTE Da­ta, un­lim­it­ed bmo­bile calls, un­lim­it­ed text mes­sages to any­where in the world and ad­di­tion­al min­utes to call oth­er lo­cal num­bers and se­lect in­ter­na­tion­al des­ti­na­tions.

“Our pre­paid plans will al­so con­tin­ue to pro­vide ad­di­tion­al val­ue with un­lim­it­ed Face­book and What­sApp mes­sag­ing, da­ta to ac­cess se­lect news sites and da­ta for use while roam­ing,” the com­pa­ny added.

Bmo­bile al­so thanked its cus­tomers for their “sup­port and un­der­stand­ing” as it does “what is nec­es­sary to de­liv­er on our promise to pro­vide you with the best ex­pe­ri­ence on our net­work.”
