Visa commemorated its inaugural Visa Day in Trinidad & Tobago by encouraging representatives of card-issuing banks, acquirers and fintechs, as well as members from the local commercial sector, to adopt digital payment options.
During the event held at the Hyatt Regency on Tuesday, Visa shared information on the latest advances and innovations in digital payments, consumer preferences, and opportunities to accelerate payments innovation and cash conversion.
Presentations were made on the increasing importance of digitalisation to the future of the financial and commercial sector, the relevance of establishing early connections with future clients for the banking industry, the importance of building trust and security in digital commerce and the opportunities this generates for money transfer in the region.
Jorge Salum, country manager Visa Trinidad & Tobago said, “The objective is to continue advancing our efforts to strengthen the security and interoperability of the digital payment ecosystem and ensuring its capacity to adapt to multiple payment platforms with the goal of an even more inclusive, more accessible, more secure, and more digital T&T,”
Visa Day is an annual event held throughout Central American and Caribbean countries, which provides a platform for local payment ecosystem stakeholders to discuss the trends, challenges, and opportunities facing payments and commerce. The objective is to educate and connect stakeholders to accelerate the key initiatives that will create a more innovative, agile, secure, and inclusive payments ecosystem.
