Cops probe three weekend murders

Three peo­ple, among them a woman, were mur­dered in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents be­tween Sat­ur­day and yes­ter­day in Cunu­pia and Mor­vant.The killing of Mo­han Seecha­ran, of Munroe Road, Cunu­pia; Penelle Princess Haynes, 27, of Bonne Aven­ture Road, Cunu­pia; and Richard "Blood" Quam­i­na, of Trou Macaque, pushed the mur­der toll to 41.Seecha­ran and Haynes were killed on Sat­ur­day while Quam­i­na died yes­ter­day near the bas­ket­ball court in Laven­tille.

A re­port said rel­a­tives went to Seecha­ran's house around 3.40 pm and found his front gate opened. He was found dead in a back room with a gap­ing wound to his head. De­tec­tives said mon­ey and his Toy­ota Hilux were miss­ing.In the sec­ond in­ci­dent, Haynes was found slumped in her bath­room with her head bashed around 4 pm.Sev­er­al elec­tron­ic items were miss­ing from the house, in­ves­ti­ga­tors said.Po­lice said Haynes was a part-time Cepep work­er who was al­so em­ployed at a casi­no in Ch­agua­nas.

De­tec­tives said Seecha­ran and Haynes were vic­tims of rob­bery.Po­lice be­lieve Quam­i­na's killing was a reprisal. They said he had ear­li­er at­tend­ed the WASA fete in St Joseph and af­ter that par­ty, he went to a pool par­ty in Laven­tille around 5.30 am.A fight broke out and when Quam­i­na went to uri­nate he was shot in the back of the head. He died on the spot.Par­ty-go­ers im­me­di­ate­ly no­ti­fied the po­lice.Of­fi­cers of North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force led by Sgt Roger Alexan­der and Mor­vant po­lice re­spond­ed.
