Three people, among them a woman, were murdered in separate incidents between Saturday and yesterday in Cunupia and Morvant.The killing of Mohan Seecharan, of Munroe Road, Cunupia; Penelle Princess Haynes, 27, of Bonne Aventure Road, Cunupia; and Richard "Blood" Quamina, of Trou Macaque, pushed the murder toll to 41.Seecharan and Haynes were killed on Saturday while Quamina died yesterday near the basketball court in Laventille.
A report said relatives went to Seecharan's house around 3.40 pm and found his front gate opened. He was found dead in a back room with a gaping wound to his head. Detectives said money and his Toyota Hilux were missing.In the second incident, Haynes was found slumped in her bathroom with her head bashed around 4 pm.Several electronic items were missing from the house, investigators said.Police said Haynes was a part-time Cepep worker who was also employed at a casino in Chaguanas.
Detectives said Seecharan and Haynes were victims of robbery.Police believe Quamina's killing was a reprisal. They said he had earlier attended the WASA fete in St Joseph and after that party, he went to a pool party in Laventille around 5.30 am.A fight broke out and when Quamina went to urinate he was shot in the back of the head. He died on the spot.Party-goers immediately notified the police.Officers of North Eastern Division Task Force led by Sgt Roger Alexander and Morvant police responded.
