Investigations are ongoing into the abduction and robbery of a Chinese businessman in Cunupia on Wednesday.

The victim, a 33-year-old proprietor of Jin Du Restaurant and Bar in Curepe, was attacked outside his home at Bamboo Creek, Chin Chin, Cunupia, around 12.25 am.

According to a police report, the businessman was accosted by three suspects, all armed with firearms and wearing gloves and face masks.

The suspects emerged from a black Nissan X-trail with registration PBY 3352, falsely claiming to be police officers and presenting a purported search warrant.

The first suspect, described as heavy-built and armed with a pistol, relieved the victim of $17,000 in cash, his cellphone, and his wallet.

Meanwhile, the other two suspects searched the victim’s vehicle.

The second suspect was described as slim, approximately six feet tall, and armed with a rifle, while the third was medium-built and five feet ten inches tall.

The suspects then forced the victim into their vehicle, claiming they were taking him to the police station. He was later released along Bridal Road near Foster Road, where his cellphone and wallet were returned to him.

The police are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward as investigations continue.
